In this spotlight series we are introducing the courageous, clever and powerful women in our Startmate Collective community.
To better understand the journeys of our Startmate Collective, we reached out to hear their reflections on pivotal moments, their unique strengths, and the goals that drive them forward.
So, let us introduce Jessica Golder, Marketing Manager at Vivi!
Tell us a little bit about your career so far…
I've been very fortunate to have worked with an array of start-ups/scale-ups both here in Australia and in Denmark. I specialise in marketing and go-to-market strategies, but I'm also incredibly passionate about people and culture, and tackling issues around diversity in leadership, which led me to Female Leadership Academy. FLA is a non-profit with a mission to increase diversity in leadership in Denmark, and I joined the organisation as their first Chief of Staff/Head of People. Since moving back to Melbourne, I've been working at Edtech scale-up, Vivi, as their ANZ Marketing Manager.
What is your #1 professional superpower?
I love connecting the dots – connecting my team with the tools and processes they need to succeed, facilitating cross-team collaboration, and connecting customers with our products.
Song you're listening to on repeat at the moment?
The entire Sam Fender discography!
Outside of work, what do you love to do?
I'm an avid reader and I love doing reformer pilates. I'm also a big traveller, but I would say I'm one of those people that *almost* likes planning the holiday more than actually going on one.
Why did you join Startmate Collective?
Working in tech can be isolating at times, especially as a woman. I joined Startmate Collective to connect with a community of like-minded, ambitious individuals where we could share experiences, learn from each other, and cheer each other on.
Things move quite quickly in the tech world, which means professional development can also sometimes takes a bit of a backseat, which has definitely been the case for me recently. By joining Startmate Collective, I wanted to make my professional development more of a priority, and I have not been disappointed!
What's been your favourite part of Startmate Collective thus far?
The sense of community has absolutely been my favourite part of Startmate Collective. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of a group I can turn to for advice, celebrate victories with, and grow alongside.
