
Content and Community Lead
Overview
Startmate is building the best place in the world to start a company. To win, we need to be a magnet for the most ambitious people in ANZ, and this role owns that magnet.
You’ll define how Startmate shows up in the world, shape the narrative of what it means to build in ANZ, and create content and community experiences that cut through and pull the right people in. You’ll operate like a creator as much as a marketer; ideating, shooting, editing and publishing content across short-form video, fast-turnaround creative and high-signal campaigns. You won’t just operate behind the scenes; you’ll be part of the story, building your own presence and showing up in the content you create. You will build and continuously refine the systems behind it all, turning attention into action and ensuring everything we do scales with speed, precision and ambition. This is a high-ownership role focused on raising the bar across taste, execution and impact, where you’re not just running campaigns but building the engine that drives Startmate’s growth, reputation and long-term influence.

You own how Startmate shows up to the world. You find the most ambitious people in our network and turn them into stories that travel. You set the standard for taste, voice and creative. You make Startmate one of the most respected and followed brands in the ecosystem.
What this looks like
- Ship high-signal content across all channels (social, email, web)
- Create original, standout brand work (reels, campaigns, assets, editorial)
- Raise the bar on quality, speed and consistency

- Spot new audiences early and build ways to bring them in
- Extend every moment into content, story and ongoing engagement

You build the system that makes all of this scale. You don’t wait for insights, you find them, act on them and improve the machine. You move fast, test often and raise performance across the board.

- Analyse performance and continuously refine how we operate across marketing

POSITION Requirements
🎨 Taste & storytelling: You have strong marketing instincts and high creative standards. You know what good looks like and can produce it. You write clearly, think in narratives and create content that actually gets attention. You’re comfortable across formats; copy, design, video; and have a bias toward shipping, not perfecting.
📈 Speed & iteration: You move fast and learn faster. You test ideas, track what works and double down quickly. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and don’t wait for perfect data to act. You care about outcomes, not just output.
🌏 Community instinct: You understand how great brands and communities compound. You know how to create moments that people feel and want to be part of. You’re excited to represent Startmate publicly and build a presence within the ecosystem.
🏗️ Ownership & execution: You take full ownership from idea to outcome. You prioritise well, follow through and hold a high bar for quality. You don’t need direction to move things forward and you’re comfortable figuring things out as you go.
