Founders: Martin Mora, Matthew Robbins
Matthew Robbins and Martin Mora grew up on opposite sides of the world. Martin grew up in Argentina, attending a navy high-school that has produced elite physicians, war veterans and politicians since the Radical Civic Union time. He originally wanted to work in aerospace engineering. After seeing first-hand how little demand there was for space-related jobs, law became the next field to draw his attention. There was always something attractive about running political ventures and actually having a chance to help his country in a meaningful way. He studied law to understand politics, working on two city council campaigns as a volunteer to eventually running political campaigns himself at only 23. Politics, unsurprisingly, wasn’t everything it promised to be. It rewarded those who dared to cut corners and sell their soul in some ways. Martin exited law after becoming disillusioned with the political scene and found his next calling in the world of business. By 2021, he’d already attended The University of Queensland, moved to Australia and joined a venture builder as employee #1, heading up teams across the globe, particularly in Singapore and India.
Matthew grew up here locally in Australia. Like most teens, he loved video games above everything else. He wanted to build video games for a living and studied game software in university. After mastering all the tools (C++, C#, Unreal, Unity), Matt found himself drawn towards mobile apps, where he spent the next 15 years of his career building. He built and sold tools like MFractor, a developer's productivity tool that he almost exited to Microsoft, and even reverse-engineered the COVIDSafe app in 2020 landing him across national news channels for two weeks. At his core, he pulls things apart and rebuilds them from the ground up. From watching his dad as a plumber rebuild old appliances, to creating games and eventually reverse-engineering apps to make better ones. Matt even had an inkling to work on Ansight's ideas in 2020 but quickly realised the AI technology wasn’t ready yet to build such a product.
What eventually brought these two co-founders together was a love for climbing. Martin treats climbing as equal parts adrenaline and mental fortitude. According to him it’s "you against yourself but in nature". He founded Red-Point, the first augmented reality climbing guide. As a non-technical founder, he learnt tools from scratch and built Red-Point’s first prototype. Matt, also an avid climber, was introduced to Martin by a friend. They vibed over coffee, talked about ideas and parted ways. Matt coincidentally was heading off on a two-week climbing trip in Europe. Perhaps it was something about the European mountains that made it impossible to stop thinking about Martin and his idea. When he returned, they booked a 10-day trip to the Blue Mountains to test the AR technology, scanning climbing walls by day and working out of a small Airbnb. Red-Point went on to raise a small round, scale to ~80K users and 49K Instagram followers. They built obsessively, working part-time jobs when they needed more cash, and worked with UQ Ventures and 77 partners to scale the business.
Martin and Matt applied to Startmate a few times. They proved to be some of the strongest operators we had seen, but we never quite saw the potential in the rock climbing market. Yet their relentless desire to get into the program showed us they came to win. Years later, AI-assisted coding pushed Red-Point’s code velocity from ~1 to ~100 units a week. The speed was there but validating output became a huge bottleneck. Matt built a small software development kit to give an agent runtime visibility into the app which fixed the problem in one session. In that moment, it was clear this was a much wider problem beyond climbing apps, and they pivoted to Ansight. Ansight connects coding agents straight into live apps giving them real visibility into what's actually going on behind the scenes. Now your agents can inspect the app, make the right changes and verify their work before anything ships.
