In our Spotlight series, we’re introducing you to our first ever cohort of Ladymates Leaders.

We reckon they are just about the most incredible bunch ever to come through a Startmate program: they are smart, pioneering, natural leaders who have already achieved enormous amounts and will go on to change the face of this ecosystem.

So - meet Frances!

Tell us a little bit about your career so far

I specialise in corporate innovation, having spent over 10 years supporting companies to survive and thrive in this modern and ever-changing world. This includes running corporate accelerators through to supporting universities to commercialise their research. I’m also a regular public speaker, and I’ve hosted over 300 masterclasses, workshops and women’s circles.

What's your role now?

I’m committed to empowering women in business, entrepreneurship and leadership. Currently, this looks like being One Roof's Head of Community & Growth. One Roof is the go-to business community for women entrepreneurs. It offers an all-in-one membership for women to start and grow their business. Our mission is to close the gender gap in entrepreneurship.

In 2020, I successfully led One Roof through a massive business pivot from co-working to digital. The business grew from 180 members to over 1500 and amassed an online community of over 35,000.

Why did you apply to join LL?

I was interested in meeting likeminded women at similar stages of their career in leadership as well as receiving executive coaching

What's been the best part so far?

I've really enjoyed the executive coaching with Sasza where learned about our personal saboteurs and relationship with conflict. I've also really enjoyed the in person sessions and meeting the other participants.

What are you reading/watching/listening to at the moment?

I just finished the 'A Court of Thrones and Roses' (ACOTAR) series

Favourite quote?

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. (African proverb)

What would be your alternative career?

Master Chef Judge
